  2. Actually although the doors ["bold"] are[/"bold"] open, there is still some difficulties, and some threads, and posts, are missing at the moment. All will be well, though, whenever.

  3. 2 ************* SOFTWARE CHANGEOVER: TODAY’S THE DAY
So, our Admin and the import contractor have agreed that today’s the day. Tomorrow (at some point) we’ll be on the new software for good. Here’s the timeline, as near as I can determined:

At some point this afternoon, a “final backup” will be taken of this board. After that backup completes, NO POSTS HERE WILL BE TRANSFERRED OVER. (This is important to remember.)

This software will remain up and the board open. Just remember what I just said above.

Some time around 4 am our time, the contractor will begin his import process. He’ll be doing it on his own server. Once the tables are created, he’ll provide the completed database to our Admin to be attached to the new software.

Once attached, the new board will be shut off until I can set the user permissions.

At that point, I’ll open the new software, close this software, and post a “final post” referring folks to the new board.

Remember, until the new board opens, this one will stay open, and anything posted after the backup cutoff WILL NOT be copied over.

By tomorrow mid day, we should be done with the initial changeover. Then the work begins to set the hundreds of things that will need to be set.

  4. Well, we're definitely in transit! The old site usually comes up read only. The new site varies from posting normally to off air.

In the meantime, Things are a happening in the wider world. Report is out! Read it here:

Volcano exploded yesterday, at White Island, with fifty tourist on island. At present, five known dead, 8 missing, and scores injured.

Many missile attacks on and near Bagdad airport. No American injured or deceased.

Something else...? Trump asking to go to board to discuss North Korean antics.

China has agreed to buy rice from US.

Hey hey hey TB2kers....lets see if I can recall how to roll old school? If I do, this should open a quick down and dirty blog where we can post...or at least read...
The word on the TB2k street from Dennis himself: . (10/13/19 10:33 am) SOFTWARE UPGRADE - Status update - **SEE POST 37** Well kids, the hardware updates are in place, the search index successfully rebuilt (finally), and things have stabilized. We now have 1.3 terabytes of SSD space at our disposal. Today, I leased a new domain, “tb2k-legacy.com”. Once we make the changeover to the new software, this version will be accessible through the above URL. Access will be READ ONLY however. I will be reviewing the support software required for the XenForo software, as well as the conversion bids I received back in June. I’ll let the contract to someone, and hook them up with our admin. I don’t have an ETA yet, but I’ll keep you all in the loop. . ( 10/16/19 12:02) I’ve settled on a person to perform the upgrade, and will draw up a service contract this evening. As soon as the contract is signed, he and my admin will get together to do a test import. I’ll review how well it went, and i
Thanks for the test, Melodi!  I feel better knowing that if the world ends, we can still watch it together lol.
